    DMX-512, A Little Help?

Ok its not the 90's no more and ive decided to take the huge leap into replacing my lights with DMX compatible lights. Ive purchase a little DMX/USB adapter and 8 channel DMX signal amplifier. Even though ive seen people say its quite simple to setup, im baffled with addresses, scenes and mapping! There are little tutorials out there to help you setup just a simple setup to give you the idea of how it works. Ive had a little look at MyDMX, ShowXpress & DasLight and still having difficulties.

    So far ive bought:
    American DJ Nucleus LED
    Casa CTL-DCM
    Equinox Firecracker 1500w Strobe

The strobe hasnt arrived yet but the other 2 lights i cant get to do anything via software. Ive spent over £600 so far and i would really love to be able to control them from a PC system. Anyone any experience who could give me a hand?

The adapter is just a cheap one from eBay, then i bought another one because i couldnt get it to work, cant remember the brand right now. Also at first i made the mistake of using an XLR cable but then tried a genuine DMX cable. The issue im having is im trying to get a strobe light to work via DMX controller but this certain brand dosnt have a preset within the software. Ive tried other strobe brand presets and i still cant get it to recognize and control it. At wit's end to be honest, im honestly debating just putting them all on auto and f*cking off DMX :(
