    Serato Releases DJ/Producer Sample Plugin

Serato just released Serato Sample, a plugin for DJ/producers looking for an easy way to chop, stretch, and key shift music files. It has an interface that will be familiar to Serato DJ users consisting of a waveform display and 16 hot cue pads, and it uses Serato's own Pitch 'n Time algorithm for time stretching and pitch shifting. It works within digital audio workstations (DAWs) like Ableton Live, FL Studio and Logic Pro.

Serato Sample works by allowing you to assign up to 16 cue points in a piece of audio such as a loop, one shot, or even an entire song. Each cue point can be manipulated in a number of ways, such as changing its pitch, and speeding it up or slowing it down. You then trigger cue points using your mouse, computer keyboard, a pad controller like the Push 2, Maschine, Novation Launchpad, or any other Midi-enabled controller.

    Best DJ Controller for Beginners

The DJ controller is now at the forefront of the digital dj era, and there are more than enough to choose from. At last count as of this post, there were more than 120 DJ controllers from major manufacturers, and most of them offer something different. So as someone who is just starting out, we wouldn't be surprised that it's difficult to decide on the best dj controller for beginners. Thankfully, we've got lots of experience in this department, and we'll help clear a few things up.

Before you get started, it's important to gain a bit of an idea of what you're looking for. With such a saturated area of the DJ world, you'll get lost in the features, and be completely indecisive as to what you need and what you don't need. It can almost be intimidating as well, with some controllers costing nearly $2,000 (which may not represent the budget of a beginner DJ), and some costing under $100 (which may not have the right features). So read through this, and hopefully, you'll have an idea of what's right for you soon enough.

    Best Breakthrough DJ: Lauren Lane

It’s been a wild, breakout ride for Los Angeles-based DJ/producer Lauren Lane over the past few years, catapulting her through the global tech house scene, from the UK to Brazil, Ibiza and beyond. From her debut EP, ‘Cool Kids’, on Nic Fanciuilli’s Saved Records in 2014 (the best-selling track on the label that year), to last year’s ‘Diary Of A Madwoman’ EP, a chunky house stomper on Eats Everything and Nick Harris’ Edible imprint, and her recently released ‘Never Ending Moments’ collab with Acid Mondays on Warung Recordings, Lauren Lane has been busy carving out her spot as the scene’s rising star. Apparently, DJ Mag readers agree. Lauren says she’s excited and honored to be selected as Best Breakthrough DJ in the inaugural Best Of North America poll: “I’m so happy to know a lot of people are out there enjoying my DJ sets and releases. I am truly grateful to do what I love and I appreciate the support immensely!”

UZ Reveals Himself as Two-Time DMC Champ DJ Troubl

If you've seen UZ in the past few months, you've caught the mystery trap DJ ending his sets with Future's “Mask Off,” and if you were really lucky, he actually took the gold bandana veil up from his face, revealing himself to be Guillaume P., aka DJ Troubl.
The French, two-time DMC World Champion has hidden his identity for five solid years, but that ends today.

“The anonymity was fun when I started it, but now I feel like there’s too many masked artists and it really has become more of a gimmick than a message,” P. says in an email interview. “Our motto at the time was to let the music speak by itself and not focus on the artist. It’s still true, but now that I’m a curator, and I’m working full-time on my label Quality Goods Records, I need to make myself heard, talk to people face to face, etc. Also, people need to know where I’ve come from and where I’m going - right here, right now. It’s just the beginning of a whole new journey for me, and I’m really excited about it.”

DJ Academy: Learn to mix properly

    Original source: http://www.djacademy.org.uk

It's true, there is a secret to being a top DJ!

It’s a secret most DJ's won't share with you. You won’t learn it in any DJ forum and you certainly won’t find it watching free 'How to be a DJ' video's on YouTube. The truth is all the 'so called' DJ/Tutor's on You Tube are not really interested in helping you, they're only really interested in showing you how good they are!
With so much mis-information about is it any wonder then why so many of us are left confused and frustrated after listening to and watching so many ‘self-confessed’ DJ experts who clearly have no real ‘hands on’ experience.

[Listen] Diplo Removes “Bankroll” After Fans Trash It

Diplo‘s latest surprise collab with Justin Bieber, Rich the Kid, and Young Thug called “Bankroll” had the title and credits to be huge. Apparently though, the actual music was nothing special. After Diplo retweeted a littany of fans dumping on the track, he removed the track from Soundcloud altogether.

One thing’s for sure, and that is that the story surrounding this track will be very interesting. Did Diplo agree that the track sucked and maybe didn’t want to release it? At this time the track is completely erased
