One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain
I'm taking a vocational training course in technical production, so a lot of my knowledge of basic 'audio stuff' (sound waves, Signal Processing, Analogue vs. Digital etc.) comes from that.
I tend to use youtube to find tutorials on basic mixing stuff, which I'm sure most of you guys know, but as a beginner I find these kinds of things to be extremely useful and enlightening, even entertaining. Despite my less than optimum PC sound setup.
http://www.youtube.com/user/recordingrevolution youtube channel - in particular, helped me a lot with understanding the basic mixing stuff in a little more depth than I've been taught in my production class, which primarily focuses on live audio - and even within that it focuses a lot more on equipment and logistics than on actual mixing.
