a.) If you don't already have winamp installed, download it and save it to a folder on your hard drive, or your desktop.

You can get the latest version of Winamp here: http://www.winamp.com/player

b.) Install Winamp. The default settings will do fine.
(although I prefer the "Modern" skin, over the "Bento/Big Bento" skins, but it's up to you.)

c.) Once you have Winamp installed, make sure it is closed, then download and install the Shoutcast Source Plugin, using the default options.

You can get the ShoutCast Source Plugin here:http://www.shoutcast.com/downloads/s...-0-windows.exe

Step 2 (Configuration):

Assuming that everything went well when setting up Winamp and ShoutCast Plugin; It's time to enter the settings that u have been given , to do your sound check.

The settings we give you will usually look something like this:

IP: 74.52.13.139
Port: 1111
Your Password: password
When you get your radio details(to connect),

Start Winamp.

Once Winamp is open, click on "Options", then "Preferences":

Next; under the Plug-Ins section of the preferences menu, click on, "DSP-Effect", and select:
"Nullsoft SHOUTCast Source DSP v1.9.X [dsp_sc.dll]".

Once you click on the SHOUTCast option, a new, separate window entitled "SHOUTCast Source" will appear, that looks like this:

There are 4 tabs at the top of that new window:

"Main", "Output", "Encoder" and "Input".

Select the "Input" tab, if it is not selected already, and make it look just like the last picture above.

Input device should be "Soundcard Input".
Input Settings should be "44100Hz, Stereo".
Under "Sound Card Mixer", make sure "Microphone Input" is selected.

Once you have completed those settings, select the "Encoder" tab at the top of that same window:

Again, make your settings look just like they do in the above picture:

Select "Encoder 1" at the top left section of the window.
Set the "Encoder Type" to: "MP3 Encoder".
Set the "Encoder Settings" to: "128kbps, 44.100kHz, Stereo"

(Make sure u find out what kbps u can play at when setting the Encoder setting From TopFloorDj)

Next, at the top of the SHOUTCast Source window, click the "Output" Tab

On that window, click on the "Connection" button where the mouse cursor in the above picture is located.

This is the window where you enter your specific show credentials that we gave you to do your show with. (IP / Password / Port / show title, etc.)

Adjust all the settings to make them look just like the above picture, with the exception of the "Port" and "Password" fields, the rest should look like the picture.

Enter the IP that we gave you under the "Address" field.

Enter the port that we gave you (i.e. 8006 / 8008 / etc..) , in the "Port" field.

Enter the password that we gave you in the "Password" field.

To the right of the "Password" field, select Encoder "1", in the list.

Make sure that "Automatic Reconnection On Connection Failure" IS checked, and set the amount of seconds to "1", just like in the above picture.

DO NOT *EVER* Select "Connect On Startup".
Make sure that this is NOT CHECKED.

Next, on the same window, click the "Yellowpages" button:

Adjust settings on this section to look just like the above picture, with the exception of the "Description" and "AIM" fields.

For "Description", Enter your DJ Name, followed by a dash "-" then the name of your show.

Make sure that none of the check-boxes on this section are checked:

"Make this server Public (Recommended)" - NOPE. Don't Check that.
"Connect At Startup" - NO! Already told you not to check that.

Now we need to make sure that your sound card is set up to properly record from the Line In.

This not being set properly is usually the cause of more than half of the "dead-air" issues that DJs get when doing their shows.

On most Windows computers, you should have a little speaker icon in the tray, by your clock. It looks like this, in XP, and probably in Vista too if you have one:

If you do NOT see this icon, don't worry. Just click on the "Start" menu, then click "Control Panel", then "Sounds and Audio Devices".
Check "Place volume icon in the taskbar", like this:

Then Click "Apply", then "Ok".

Now, double-click on the little speaker icon by the clock, and a "Volume Control" window/mixer should pop up:

I will refer to this from this point on, as your "Sound card Mixer".

Just like in the above picture, click on "Options", then the "Properties" Menu.

Another window entitled "Properties" should pop up:

Just like in the above picture, make sure your proper soundcard is selected at the top of the window, under "Mixer Device". Usually it will pop up with the correct one selected as the default, but if you have webcams or other audio accessories plugged into your computer, you might need to change the "Mixer Device".

We are looking for your sound card as the "Mixer Device". Use logic when determining the proper mixer device to select in this page. (i.e. If it says webcam or camera, its probably not the right one.)

In my case, it is "C-Media Rear Panel Audio".

Next, click on "Recording", and then make sure ALL the check boxes in the bottom of the list are CHECKED. Then, click "OK".

Now a window called "Recording Control" should pop up, with a bunch of sliders and check boxes on it, lookin something like this:
