Good idea in theory, unlikely it will take-off.
not the first time we see it in an app... but for now...this means at least more stems released .... and where there are stems released .. there is a robin hood ripping them to share with everyone else ... isnt that how it works ?
There can't be many more files we haven't already shared :p
Interesting idea but worried how Kygo doesn't seem too interested in it :D Could just be tired though to be fair to him
new songs released ... new stems
I've been looking through the app and I've been seeing some pretty interesting stuff; 11 track versions of the reason by Hoobastank and walking on the sun by smash mouth, 9 track stems for Closing Time by Semisonic and Walk Away by the James Gang. While some tracks we already have stems for are on the app (including the ones mentioned above), they tend to have more tracks than the stems we have.
im sure they will get some new stems from labels ...
never heard of it but ive seen other apps selling stems
Well damn!

It was a short-lived initiative back in the late 2000s. Some singles were released with bundled remixing software (very basic, mind you) and the stems of that single.
Some were lossless, some were lossy. And it had major compatibility issues with most OS's above XP. That's where Feeder's "Feeling A Moment" stems came from (those were lossless at 16bit 44100KHz). Robbie Williams' "Sin Sin Sin" + "Advertising Space" were lossy.
The "Umyx" exe also contained the raw stems inside it, so you could tell which one was lossy or lossless by looking at the size of the exe itself.
So the theory was there but it never really got the support to make it great. That's a shame.
i remember another app like this... cant remember the name but they had songs by Train , i think "Hey soul sister" was there
I believe Jammit was responsible for 'Hey Soul Sister' and a few others.
Umyx sounds nice, has a nice ring to it :)
The Oiid app has been around since 2015 and lasted longer than any other multitrack app. I saw 3 multitracks listed as "Soon to be released." Probably waiting for the green light from publishers. So it has been around and so far seems to have been successful in some aspects. A lot of music has been removed while others added. Probably temp licensing. I'm amazed no one has tried to get the files by now. Most likely might surface if the company ever goes under.
I stand corrected.
I'm trying the oiid app at the moment with one of their free songs and I have to say I'm quite impressed. Sound quality is good enough, although it seems to be lossy rather than lossless, you get a music video in the background of the mixer section of the app and the interface itself is pretty slick and responsive. There isn't as many songs as there are on "Mix The Music" and a lot of the songs are the same ones (albeit with less tracks it seems, usually the drums are mixed down to a single track rather than having separate Kick, Snare etc).
EDIT: Ahhhhhh.....I think a lot of the songs that I wanted are only available in the US when I'm in the UK :(
I found two multitracks several years ago (2012 and 2013)
it said they were from the UMixit program..here's the links:

I'm not 100% sure, but I wouldn't be suprised if it was like other similar services and music games like GH and RB where they distribute a "multitrack file" for each song. I wouldn't know anything about finding a file or files of these oiid tracks on my phone; But i'm fairly sure there are ways and means someone can obtain these tracks somehow. i.e. recording??
thats what i thought
